Could you be a Trustee for Elfrida Rathbone Camden?
We are currently seeking new trustees with substantial experience in education and/or SEN to oversee governance of our Leighton Education Project, a project for adults aged 16 – 25 with mild – moderate learning disabilities and autism.
Elfrida Rathbone Camden is a successful charity providing a range of services for children, families and young people. Our current projects include work in the areas of support for families with multiple and complex needs, special educational needs advocacy, and a number of projects supporting young disabled people to achieve their potential. We are an organisation with a close-working, diverse staff group delivering our various projects, and our Board of Trustees (which currently comprises 10 members) reflects our ethos of teamwork, co-operation and good communication.
Our trustees have a lot of experience across many different areas of work and life but their meetings are not intimidating or stuffy. What we value are people feeling comfortable and confident enough to share ideas about how best ERC can work with the people who use our services: families and parents, disabled young people and adults with a learning disability.
That’s not so say that overseeing the governance of ERC is simple – the organisation has 25 staff and spends nearly £1m each year on its services. But our trustees work in a supportive and encouraging way with each other and with the organisation’s managers so that opportunities to both contribute and learn new skills are always there.
Many people like to volunteer by getting directly involved in activities – being a trustee and helping a charity to meet needs in the best possible way is also a very important voluntary role. We’d love to talk to anyone who can add to the knowledge, commitment and skills on our Board especially if you have experience in the areas of business, media, IT or using social care services yourself.
We welcome applications from everyone with the relevant skills and/or experience, including those who consider themselves to be from disadvantaged groups. To help achieve a better gender balance on our management committee we are particularly interested in hearing from male applicants. ERC is a member of VAC and will support new trustees to attend VAC training courses relating to their role.
For more information about the role, please download a role description and person specification.
To apply, please complete the ERC Trustee application form and return by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or via the post to Alexis Keir, Elfrida Rathbone Camden, 7 Dowdney Close, Kentish Town, London NW5 2BP.
